So never ending issues in life eh, a close friend of the family just told me that they are splitting up also after 9yrs of marriage and a daughter age 4. Parties ages ( 43 and 39 respectively)

They are avoiding the litigation route and just trying to workout a fair reasonable settlement between them

They have looked up mysupportcalculator, and for their incomes of 73k and 33k, it shows what CS would be and SS.

I'll like to get the general consensus here of what people will offer for SS based on the info above and for how long with clauses in it, so I can pass it on

Note: They've both agreed that the spouse will get SS, so no debate there.

People also usually advise that you get the friend(s) to post here themselves in these situations.

I know little about spousal support (except to think that it should be rare, not the norm!) so I can't offer expertise on the calculator.

I believe you answered your own question.

They conceded entitlement. They ran the numbers and came up with low/mid/high amounts and a duration.

Generally unless otherwise dictated most people pay the median amount for 0.5 years per year of marriage. Then they review and reduce or terminate.

It's fairly important to decide if the support is being offered as compensation or needs-based as this can affect what clauses may affect it.

For example, re-partnering will reduce needs-based support but not compensatory support.
