I just completed my ex's income tax return and mine on ufile.ca

She is claiming the amount for the dependant and the dependent born after 1992. However, I wanted to claim the daycare expenses.

In ufile, I marked our daughter in both our files as a dependent, however, in my file, I said I would not claim her as a dependent. It allowed me to claim the daycare expense.

I know that in the past a few people complained that they had to fill it out manually and mail it in order to claim any expenses, but this seems to be a way around it.

Thanks! I use ufile too, I would have run into that sooner or later.

Previous years we filed so that I claimed our daughter + expenses and the ex claimed our son + expenses but we're going to have split the daycare differently this year.

cool. now we just have to decide who claims her as equivalent to spouse..
