Switching over bills? Still in house

Separated end of Jan, moved back in 2nd week of March, and my x wants me to switch the bills into my name. We are on equal billing so I'm wondering if it matters if I switch. We are about $270 behind on our gas, then it would start over in September. I have had to pay an extra $50 this month. Other bill is hydro and it will be done beginning of July but may possibly have a credit, not sure. Does it matter what I do?

Hi:

I have been here second week of March. Equal billing on hydro is up beginning of July and gas end of August. I will have to pay up now the extra rather than letting it run it's course, which gas should be cheaper than what I am paying right now since it won't be used much over the summer. Gas is behind about $250 and I paid an extra $50 on this bill.
