Hi -
Situation: Child will leave MH permanently for postgraduate studies. CS stops but S7 (tuition/living expenses) is shared between child/parents.

Question: will the child stop being a "child of marriage" and will SS change (since there is no more CS)? or SS will only change when there is no more S7?
Thanks.

Spousal Support and Child Support should not be connected in any way. What does your agreement say about discontinuation of SS?

Also, CS is usually only done for the first degree. A grad student receives income through grants and teaching assistant positions and should theoretically be self-sufficient. Poor, but self-sufficient. Definitely no longer a child of the marriage. It's nice of you to continue to help out, but I would think that it could be done on an informal basis, individually by parent, and not officially divided up with an exchange of financial info, etc.

Thanks Rioe. I am to get SS indefinitely (long term marriage), but I still don't have a SA (glacial speed in the court system...).
SS and CS are connected since SS depends on how much is spent on CS/S7. Child has one postgrad degree now and may be going to Med School = no grant, no scholarship, no T.A.... but nice big bank loan + parents...
Kid is "entitled" (thanks to family law precedents) to get S7 help for Med School, given that one parent has a high degree :(
What I really am not clear is where the kid fits in all the SSAG calculations: child, adult child, without children?
