Spousal Support Calculations

Does anyone at this site have the software that calculates spousal support?

I have seen two lawfirms and both have different calculations.

Sounds reasonable to me. You DO realise that there are only GUIDELINES, not hard formulas for determining spousal support? So of course different people can come up with different results.
 
even if they use the same program, the outcome will be different. There are many other factors not just your line 150 from your tax return. When I did the calculation plugging in all the factors/numbers which can modify the result I ended up with $600-$800 range, when my ex's lawyer did it she ended up with $1000-$1400. Desperatedad has the program itself and he knows everything about it, maybe you will be able to consult with him.

lol, of course it will be higher and if they can slide and convince a judge by submission in busy motions court, all the better for their client.
 
As to DivorceMate... Has anyone actually purchased the full suite? After 10s of 1000 in lawyer fees and getting NOWHERE... It's gotta be better to pay for some pricey software, do the research/reading and represent oneself. But looking at their website it's confusing as to who they'll sell to and if there is (on top of the somewhat outrageous initial outlay) an annual subscription as well.

I know you don't need the software but it looks like some solid groundwork in there. But you have to enter a "firm name" in order to get past even screen one near as I can tell... Quite the racket this whole lawyering deal..
 
How can someone use line 150 and then use their Union Dues as a deduction and still use those union dues on their Income Tax. I would think the individual should be reported to Revenue canada

Divorcemate is just an application that implements SSAG and outputs a formatted table to dump into a sep agreement schedule. There is latitude of interpretation. There are two aspects: amount and duration. SSAG speaks to both (look at pg 32 for core calcs):

If you are going to self rep, then read the whole guide. It's in lay language and will arm you with all aspects of support considerations that judges often refer to.

The authors also wrote a status report of SSAG use by courts about 5 years after SSAG was released, if you need a sleeping aid.

Great websites!! Where were you when I spent hours in intimate relations with my calculator?? (I did check my results against the site, pretty darn close:D )
