Spousal support before a judge?

I am employed in the oilfield and have had some good years recently.
Total income in the past couple years was about $220k

Now due to pay cuts and loss of overtime I'm only going to be making my base rate of $136000

Obviously it is still a good wage, but my ex is getting greedy when it comes to spousal/child support and we are trying to mediate.

Currently paying 3121 spousal and 2033 child for 2 kids.

Do I dare fight and try and make it less?

What would happen if it went to a judge?

Married 10 years together 13, kids are 3 and 6. She hasn't worked for 6 years but has skills to make $50k

Thanks

From my very humble and limited experience, you won't know what a judge will rule. Only go thru court if you really have to, the emotional and financial costs are very high. It's probably not a fight you want. (But be prepared, lots of great info here)

Try not to think of your ex as greedy, the same can be said of you for wanting to pay less. Those feelings and thoughts don't help the matter to get resolved, which should really be your goal.

Look at it like a business decision. If you pay a bit higher try to get something in return; more time with kids a clause to review in the future.
