She is selling everything off

My ex common law g/f has kept virtually everything, property wise, we did not own a house it's all furniture and cars. She kicked me out, she moved and when she did she sold off what she couldn't take and simply just left some stuff behind. Now she is selling off all the rest, so she can move out of province I assume. I have asked for some things and not alot either. We moved here from out of province with very little in hand. Approximately 90% of our things we bought together while living together. Her claim is that she had to give up all her stuff to move here with me about 8years ago so all the stuff she has is hers. We took over a family business and ran it as a couple and a few years ago I got sick and could no longer work and because of that the contract was breached so neither one of us got anything out of the business but she feels she was had and got screwed, well so did I. She has already sold 2 cars, left behind a washer and dryer for some reason ( they were fairly close to new when she did). I have no way of knowing what is left and I am very concerned of what she has done. If I can't figure out what to do and quickly it will all be gone and so will she. I desperately need some advice on this, and quick to. BTW, I am on wellie until I get this odsp thing sorted out so running off to a lawyer is out of the question.

Depending on the amount of money you are looking at here, you may have to a) get a restraining order preventing her from selling off the rest and b) figure out the value of everything sold and then your 1/2 of it, and if it is under $10k< sue her in small claims court. If it is greater then $10k you will have to sue her in regular court.

The small claims court limit used to be $10K. It's now $25K.

You don't say how much all that stuff is worth, so it's hard to advise you. If you can't afford a lawyer then you're only real option is to educate yourself and self-represent.

If she's pissed it all away, it may not even be worth it, especially if she doesn't have an income. You can't get blood from a stone.

If she does have an income, you may have a claim for spousal support.
