I was wondering, why shared custody is more common in Quebec? does it have anything to do with the way the CS is calculated in QC?

Can you share the backing evidence to your opinion shared here? For example a recent article reviewing statistics etc? Or is this just a personal observation you have made?

Interesting the difference between "Shared" Court order and no Court order (98-99

The percentage is almost double with no court order. 5.6% to 11.6% respectively. I am no statistician (although I did take it is school, lol) but this says to me the courts are more in favor of "primary residence". Now this was 13 years ago so I'm sure the trend has continued upward.

Children were considerably more likely to live in shared custody when parents came to an agreement without legal intervention (11.6%) than with it (5.6%).

Being Francophone, I would suggest it is simply because that province has a more liberal society than found in the rest of Canada.

Apples and oranges. The courts are dealing with high conflict parties who could not manage to reach a settlement on their own. "Non-order" agreements obviously were able to find common ground. Lower hostility and greater willingness to negotiate will make shared more likely.
