My first post so here's some history;

Common law for 10 years plus married for 6 year for a total of 16 years together. One child who will soon be 14 years old.

I've accumulated about $250k in RRSP throughout the 16 years together. The value of my RRSP was about $150k when we got married and $0 when we became common law 16 years ago.

All RRSP are in my name and I've made all the contributions to them. She has no RRSP.

Correct we if I'm wrong but my understanding is that she is only entitled to half of the increase in value of the RRSP since we married or $50k.

Is this correct?

Just a quick note to Orleans Lawyer....

I'm sure I represent many posters here when I say your concise and accurate replies are most appreciated !!! It's a fantastic resource to have a "real" family law lawyer as part of the dedicated 'gang" to provide assistance.

Again, many thanks for your participation !!!!
