Recent FRO account closure

My husband’s CS came to an end a couple months ago and it was written into the final order that CS would terminate as of x date.

He has stopped the automatic payments and no money has been transferred but he wants to confirm nothing else is needed as they are not withdrawing, the order is terminated.

When he called to see what the procedure was he was told he and his ex need to sign forms to withdraw. When he noted his order had a terminating event they then told him he still had to sign. He asked to speak to someone else who told him nothing needed to be done. He was confused by the two different answers.

Has anyone recently ended their payments to FRO in a similar way? Before he calls again we were looking to see if anyone else had the same situation. He would rather not have to deal with his ex or give her a reason to be a bitch about things. Both kids are done university and over 22.

My husband has a case that is a little different, as he had to contact FRO to end support, learning the "child" was 22 I believe and Not in School. FRO had been paying the Deceased Grandmother (Case Holder). We had to get the Ombudsman involved to end it and got some reimbursement. But after it ended, the account was still showing open/online for 6 months, even though no more payments were going on it. At the 6 month mark, it disappeared, can't see it online anymore. So assume it's closed.

Yikes!

Ok he is going to call this week to confirm. It is clearly worded in his order that support terminates permanently as of a specific date. We stopped payments from his account and he works somewhere else so they can't garnish him.

An update: husband received a letter from FRO and a withdrawal form asking him to sign and return. No CS was applied to his account after the termination date in his order and he and his ex were required to sign separate forms for withdrawal. We expect to get something in the mail telling him it is over.

Finally after seven years the financial mess his ex created is O-V-E-R!
