"Make Any Divorce Better!..." - Book

I came across this Amercian book written by Ed Sherman (2008).

It's no nonsense - aimed to minimize emotional and financial damage that usually comes with divorce.

It's hard to believe he's a lawyer. He must be an old guy too - practicing family law since 1967.

Here's a quote from the intro:

"The secret to a successful divorce is to minimize your use of the legal system and of the attorneys who work on it."
:)

He has a section on self-representation - recommending it in some cases. Also information about when and how to "dump" your ineffective lawyer.

He also acknowledges that some of his advice won't work if you're dealing with a severely maladjusted, wacko ex.

It's a good resource.

I also have a copy of Michael Cochrane's book - with a Canadian context, etc.

I bought this book over a year ago, and it's ok, but I find "Surviving Your Divorce" the more helpful of the two.
