Sounds like littleman submits her own receipts for dental expenses herself and the dentist also submitted the claim to the ex's insurance company.

I've never done it that way, but I guess it's done.

I don't think that the insurance company SHOULD talk to anyone except the policyholder, but they talked to me very openly and I was the spouse on the policy. They told me when claims were direct deposited because I was on the plan and the dentist was directly submitting the claim (I paid upfront) and then the ex was keeping the money in his account and not sending it on to me. Nice one ... oh well.

Anyway, beware, looks like insurance companies aren't too pickey about who they divulge information to. Or maybe when you sign up a spouse the fine print reads that the spouse has access and entitlement to the Policy Information ???

Seems fishy to me, I don't have any access to my EX's insurance info or he to mine - even when we were married. If I called to confirm something with them they would take notes etc and get in touch with him or require him to get in touch with them to inquire but never ever gave out any info, my insurance company was and is the same way with any inquiries he made. We simply exchanged our policy info and passwords and do all of our policy checkups online without even having to contact the companies.

I agree, they should not have given any information to me.

When I called, it was to confirm that they had received the claim for with the receipts that I had mailed months earlier.

So they looked it up, and told me it had been paid (direct deposited into ex's account), the date and the amount.

Go figure ... I didn't even ask that. I'm well aware that they didn't know that we had separated but they still shouldn't give information to anyone but the policyholder.

And PS: this was Manulife - I think they need to train their people better.

Oh weird, I have manulife and I swear just getting someone on the phone about a policy is like passing a security clearance test!

OMG blink........I called them once and yes I do have the right to access information (according to insurance) because my name was still listed there.....and he is with Manulife......now you know.....and there is nothing fishy because I was honest with them
the reason that I know that he will be paid out for it is because the receipt I have from Manulife states that a cheque will be issued.....I was married to the ex for a decade and am well versed on the way his insurance works....I changed his policy to take me off.....I told them I had my own coverage and his is not required (Im sure they will verify with him however - of course they will they wont be getting as much in premiums)

the fact comes down to I made a mistake and I fixed it with the best intentions in mind for my ex......I stuck my foot in my mouth....

Being part of this forum for many years now I thought maybe someone could offer constructive advice on how I could fix this with very little complication.....obviously I was wrong there was just blaming.....I explained what I did and asked for advice how to fix then the nastiness and the cursing arises.......it is sad that when I was going through my court case fro custody I relied on this site and now when I look for guidance I get slammed

I hope that the bitterness stops at some point. I do still come on here from time to time but it will be in "lurking" mode more than helpful or pay it forward mode
good luck to all
