Hi

My CS which comes through FRO has stopped.
I did not go to court, I did not receive any letters why.
I called last Friday, and they were not able to tell me why.

My daughter is 6.
The CS goes into an account for her, for her University/future needs.
I am not hard up to get it, but I do not understand how it can just stop?

My ex and I do not speak, I have a restraining order, he is abusive.

Anyone had this happen to them?

FRO has also at different times during the last 4 years not given me my child or spousal support. All my ex-husband has to do is call them, give them some excuse why he can't pay and they give him 30 days to make a payment. Nobody ever notifies me I won't be getting paid. He does at some point have to make up the payments. I count on this money weekly to live and I really don't think it's fair that FRO can go ahead and make arrangements with my ex without even notifying me. But then again what is fair in divorce.

Carita...thank you for your experience.

I am now wondering what happens after this first month.
What if he just does not pay next month to the FRO? Does the FRO go after him or do I have to go to court for the CS?

Thank you for reading this.

My Payments have stopped once again too

My Payments have stopped once again too

My ex-husband decided last week to phone FRO and stop my payments for the month. I called them they won't give you much information. All they said was don't be expecting a payment this month at all. I asked when he would be paying me again..she said I can't give you that information. I rely on spousal and child support to live, pay my mortgage, bills, groceries. She told me she could do nothing about it, she couldn't make him pay. After 30 days of non-payment they will send him a letter requesting that he make some kind of arrangements to pay, after 3 months they can take aggressive action, which I guess means possibly taking away his drivers licence at some point or whatever. I told her after 3 months I will be out on the street..she said she was sorry. What really bothers me is that neither my ex or FRO has to notify me that I will not be getting paid so I can try and plan my finances. He just decides one day to stop payment. You just expect it to go into your account and it doesn't come. So I don't know what other choices we have except wait around and hope at some point we get some money.

Carita....

My situation is different, in that I do not rely on the CS, I just put it into savings for my daughter.

I do agree with you completely though...that if the payments are going to stop...for whatever reason, that the FRO should inform you (the receiver of the CS) immediately, so those people in your situation, who are relying on the CS and SS to help with daily/monthly living expenses can budget and try to make due.

Good luck with your situation as well.
