I have been asked numerous times through private messages that if the Divorcemate program is wrong and fraudulent, tell us what is wrong with it. Now that my trial is over, I have some time and I am pleased to do so.
Divorcemate understates the government benefits a recipient spouse receives. Myself and some other professional accountants have looked at this and without Divorcemate's programming, we can't ascertain what they are doing wrong.
Here is our speculation.
(1) They don't keep their systems up to date with the changing benefits. for example, the OTB (Ontario Trillium Benefit) replaced some other benefits within the last few years.
(2) Effective July 1, government benefits are based on the net income of the recipient spouse from the prior year. Nowhere in the Divorcemate program, does it require a lawyer to enter the "Net Income" which is Line 236 of the T1 Federal Tax Return. Likely it is basing it on the recipient spouses total income which is inflated causing Divorcemate to understate the benefit the recipient spouse receives.
Here is a link to how the government benefits are calculated.
Child and family benefits calculators
Work it out yourself based on your situation and if it doesn't match Divorcemate's government benefits calculation, get the whole calculation thrown out of court as inaccurate.
This is just the first error of dozens and dozens of errors that are in this program.
I will post more.
I hope this helps people.
