Costs of being the Respondent to the Appeal

Hi Forum- We completed a written trial by documentation and received our judge's decision in late Feb. We were 100% successful in our positions. Last week we received a Notice of Appeal on 8 points. Our lawyer is busy at trial and we haven't been able to connect with him. In the meanwhile, I was wondering the average cost to defend/or be the respondent in an appeal? I read we need to develop a factum, book of evidence, case law and then oral arguments. I've also started researching how common it is for the appealling party to have to put up collateral for the appeal if they already have a monetary judgement against them. That looks to be rather low/unique motion to request. Never ending.
