Child support calculation

Last year I received a retroactive lump sum payment due to collective agreement negotiations. It is basically back pay for the 3 years previous. It artificially inflated my employment income for 2021 and is not reflective of my annual income. Can I base the child support amount beginning July 1 on the average from last 3 years? Or can it be excluded?

If it relates to the previous three years you could go back and recalculate what you should have paid each of those three years and pay arrears. Otherwise it is technically income and would be considered for child support purposes. If it was a termination pay out or cashing in a retirement benefit you could argue it was a one time thing. Unfortunately this was income you should have been paid.
