Using a car to kill with is rather messy and not always effective. The evidence it leaves behind could be scattered over a large area.
A gun is much more efficient for killing with. That's what it's designed for. You don't get too close, usually leaves a neat round bullet hole with tidy fatal results.
Guns are designed for efficiently killing. And they serve that function very well.

if guns were so efficient why did hitler find it more economical to use gas?

If the idea of a gun was invented today, it would never be allowed to be owned by the populous in civilized societies.

I wish we were separated from the US by a very large body of water.

I have no problem with only the government (soldiers, police) being allowed guns.

The US second amendment was adopted in 1791. Americans who use this to defend the right for everyone to walk around with weapons are a detriment to society. Some day, if mankind survives, society will not condone the right for an individual to legally have the power to kill many.

I am a dual US/Canadian citizen, I used to live in the US, and they pin their pride to the second amendment, even the educated ones, unfortunately.

My tbx abused me severely in a violently physical way. To know that he had a rack of guns in his gun closet made me scared that he would use one on me some day. I became particularly fearful when he would take them out for cleaning. He would lay them out on the kitchen table in full view.

And...I did not push his buttons.

A violent person can use anything as a weapon. Not belittling or in any way trying to make light of your fears but knives are pretty good weapons too.So is a gas leak and a smoldering cigarette .Vehicles are quite good as one can always use the accidental excuse for squashing ones spouse.Dangerous people are always going to be dangerous.

Im a firm believer in the registering of all firearms anyway for a multitude of reasons.Someone dead by shotgun-handy to know locally who owns shotguns.Person is behaving erratic, police need to know if they own firearms.Criminal gangs rob a house and get a few firearms as well and they may use them in the next robbery. Its not going to stop illegal firearms but for the small percent of gun crimes by legal owners it saves time.

A psyche evaluation should be mandatory however. If law enforcement are interviewed and screened to prevent in some way the wrong people getting power, then it should apply to the civilians as well. Gun ownership is a great power and it should bear more responsibility.

police are evaluated before they are hired....doesnt stop them from beating people...just means they dont get convicted

so lets see, you have a thing against, women, people who get CS, SS (or just when women get it?) wont hesitate to lie to come out on top and now the police. So negative all the time. Must be sad to live your life.

Yes, he is a charmer! 56? That's not old at all. You're just hitting your stride Girl :)
The way I see it: we are ALL getting older, every day!! No stopping that. Odd thing is that getting older does not mean getting wiser (for some).

Returning to the original theme...I agree that there are obviously other ways to injure and kill. Fists came in handy for my to be ex, and there is little doubt that if he had one of his guns handy, he would have used it instead.

don't forget older people as he frequently makes disparaging comments about my age (56)...

Arabian, I am much older than you are. Probably the oldest regular poster on this site. Today I received my renewed driver's license, and I will say that I look 10 years younger than in my old license photo, taken 5 years ago. I also feel a lot younger since leaving him over a year ago. I was very stressed.
