In Quebec, ALL support goes through the enforcement agency as a matter of practice they garnish your salary right away. It normally happens within 30 days....
If at one point I were to not pay my ex any support it is because of the following.
1. I think CS amounts are too high an unfair so I don't want to pay that much.
2. If my kids are living with me then I am paying their expenses already why should I do that and then pay my ex for that too just so they aren't "poor" in that house. Sorry, we're divorced what she does with the kids on her time is not my concern (except for abuse). Support the kids when they are with you yourself and give some of that "motherly benefit" to counteract your poverty - I don't care not my business. Its not like I can give you the money and make sure you spend it on the kids and not breast implants.
3. Now, If I want to "NOT PAY" I basically have to quit my regular job, work under the table, go to jail now and then so I'll have to probably have to hugely destabilize my life so I won't want to even pay PART of the CS because all this BS forced to me lose my good income anyways...
I think the "control" thing about men is BS - most men don't want to get married anymore because they don't want to be CONTROLLED by the state if they get divorced
I frankly couldn't care what my ex does but I am in a situation where if she sits at home she augments her chance of getting custody again and also if we end up with shared and she is underemployed it cost me more so I want them to impute the maximum income to her possible and keep upping to give her an incentive to work HARD (and not just work). In 10 years, I don't want my loser ex being imputed only 25k/year while I make 150k+ year because I'll have to pay her more and its basically an engineered situation.
