  • Pension Assets

Hi all ,hope to clarify things

My Assets: House in both our names
Auto and Boat in my name only
Bank Accounts in my name only
RSP in my name only with my son as beneficiary
    Currently collecting my CPP
Spouse has a substantial company pension that she will apply for in a few months

I realize the house is a strict 50/50 but does she have any right to my RSP amounts and would I have any rights to her rsp and pension?

We have been together 30 years and have a 26 year old son..he is out and independent and I assume whe would not fit into any negotiations here!

    Thx for any info...

As far as I know, at least in British Columbia, everything that you and your wife accumulated over your thrirty years together will be split 50/50. This includes your pension and your rsps. The more time you've spent together and the greater the difference in current income streams the more likely spousal support will be forthcoming as well.
