  • Bullying outside of courtroom

Have a friend whose spouse is 'very agressive' aka (bullying behavior) when outside the courtroom to my friend and their lawyer.

How does one go about dealing with such behavior? In some martial arts, you can take the energy of your opponent and use it against them ... so how does one do the same when confronted with bullying tactics and behavior outside the courtroom?

Bullies like control. You have to stand up to them, before they will back down.

Although it is always a better situation when parties can communicate and sort out some isses on their own, this is not always possible.

Grace is right, bullies thrive on control and you must stand up to them, but reciprocating with nasty words and aggressive behaviour will do nothing but make matters worse. Instead, any party who is being bullied by their ex-spouse should make it clear that all communication between parties must cease and if anything needs to be discussed, it must be done through counsel. So, if one is constantly being hounded by his or her spouse about something, one should simply repeat "Have your lawyer contact my lawyer."

In serious situations, if at any point a party feels as though their life is in danger, they should call the police immediately.

          Addition

It should also be noted that if this behaviour happens in front of a witness or other person, it is a good idea to have them write a note or mini statement on the occurance, can be used to estabolish a pattern of behaviour for the court who is not able to witness this behaviour.

          Documentation is everything.

Yes, witness statements are great for these situations.
I know its borderline, but have you thought of videotaping it?
