  • Being bought out of marrital home

    Hello,

My soon-to-be exwife has just refinanced the home that we purchased together. Part of the separation agreement was that when I sign my name off of the house, she pays me my buy-out amount. We are heading to her property lawyers office on Monday, the girl from that office advised me that I would sign the papers on monday and would go back on Wednesday to pick up the cheque for X amount as they should get the money from the bank by Wednesday noon.

Does this sound like the typical way this process should go? Should I ask for anything to ensure I don't get left holding a blank piece of paper? I've never done this before so maybe someone who has gone through a similar situation can let me know if this is how it should work.

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Joe,
Don't post the same message in different sections. It is confusing and boring.

Sorry FN is you find it so confusing. Just looking for some simple help and was not sure where to put the question.
