  • Five night at freddys for 8 year old?

Not the video game, but rather the music videos on youtube, would you say they are appropriate for an 8 year old ? Other parent allows child to watch them at their house and child bugging me to be able to do same here.

What about the characters being used as a halloween custom ?

There is a scary story behind five nights at freddys of children being murdered and turned into amatronics - which I am not sure if child knows or not, but may have heard about it at school or daycare.

Child isn't having nightmares or anything, but just want to hear what everyone elses thoughts are

If it isn't something that CAS would care about then don't interfere with the other parent's time with the child.

I think there is a misunderstanding on the question.

Not interfering on her time, but definetly don't agree to child also watching family guy and Grand theft auto youtube videos with her mom. Will I call CAS? NO? WIll Cas care and do anything? Who knows.

My question, what are YOUR thoughts on five night at freddys youtive song videos? Have a look and let me know. SHould I (as in me, not her) be allowing this at my house? If I do, and allow her to wear the character's customes, could the other parent turn around and say I am allowing child exposed to innappropriate content ?

Basically, forget the ex, the question is about my time. The OCL is involved and I don't want any wrong moves on my end.

Do what YOU think it appropriate for your child. It appears you are not comfortable with allowing your child to watch these types of videos and that's ok. Feel free to restrict the access to the videos and tell your child you don't think i'ts a great idea and would prefer he/she didn't watch them while at your home until they are ___ yrs old or when you feel like they won't have a negative impact on them.

In the meantime, you could send a polite email stating that you aren't keen on the idea and would appreciate if the other parent also limited your childs exposure to them. I will assume here that you won't get a response, or probably get a nasty one. Ignore that and continue parenting how you think you want to parent.

If you think it's ok, then let your child watch them. For this, you could again send an email asking if she also thinks it's ok and then decide based on the response (if you get one) whether or not want to do the same.

Imo, the subject matter and it's depiction of it is pushing the edge for an 8 year old. If they've never showed signs of getting nightmares from similar content, I 'might' be ok with them watching it, but even then, it's my opinion that they can wait until the are pre-teen to see this kind of stuff.

Google it. I just did and found this:

"Show All members Parents Teens & kids Common Sense Review. Common Sense Media says. Terrifying psychological thriller is too much for kids. age 12+"

Five nights at Freddys is not gruesome in anyway. It is more of a jump scare game and is certainly focussed on the 8 to 12 age range. I would say it is very fine in my opinion and my daughter used to play it.

At 12 she has grown out of the game and considers it juvenile.

There is no blood and I certainly wouldn’t consider it scary.

Ultimately you have to decide on the maturity and ability of your child. I know nothing about OCL and can’t speak to their opinions but there are far worse games out there than five nights at Freddys and I think eight is fine.

no way I would let her play the games. That is big no no. This is regarding the music videos on youtube. as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLeQSd7R-jU . The music videos don't have the jump scares but still have that psychological thriller hints in the lyrics.

The game itself is rated Teen. And child is not quite 8 yet. Almost. I'm thinking 11-12 would be more appropriate age.

not quite comfortable with it. I prefer Alvin and the chipmunks music videos. and let it go - frozen (disney) - which our child absolutely loves.

              Mom's house, dad's house, I suppose.

The song remains the same not your time, not your concern. You can only control what goes on at your house.

Focus on what FNAF does teach children:

                - Not to follow costumed strangers or handle dangerous equipment.

The other parent will simply ignore you and your nonsense about what children should be allowed to watch or not watch.

Robert Halford says that we don't need no parental guidance here. He also says your bogus claim that your kid shot himself in the face because of something they heard or saw is also bogus.

No immediate, or short term harm potential for the child. If you called they wouldn't care in the slightest, and you would be directed to family court.

That's like saying it's okay to let your children watch 18+ movies with violence and killing and robbing because of the lessons they will learn from it.

Again, the question is not, and the concern is not controlling the other parents times, or whether we should find a positive to allow the child to watch because it is watched at the other parent's home. Question is, whether, in your opinion (regardless of the other parents) the music videos are appropriate for a 8 year old.

I know the other parent would not ignore and come back with a nasty response. That is typical of her. Asking the other parent to not allow children to watch 18+ shows with inappropriate content in them, or playing inappropriate video games isn't really non sense now is it ? If it is, then why don't they show adult content to children at the school to teach them about strangers ? Or why the movies don't allow adults to take children with them to 18+ movies because of the lessors they may learn from them ?

Anyway, this is going into too many tangents.

What is YOUR opinion on FNAF for children under age of 12?

I know. It's not a protection matter. Unless the child was having nightmares and uncontrollably peed herself.

There has been times where she has been scared of someone breaking into her home and steeling her away, and I have had to alleviate these concerns for her.

It does suck when the other parent exposes child to inappropriate content.

Just curious, Tayken, if the other parent watched porn with their 7 year old child, would you say my concerns would be nonsense as well? Or does that have something to teach the children to ? What if the other parent and their partner had sex in front of the child ?Just want to be sure your response is only regarding FNAF and not Grand Theft Auto, Family guy,Eminem or other 18+ subject matters.

ignorant response. There are many things CAS doesn't care about that are not protection matters but litigimate concerns. There are many things CAS simply can't prove also. Doesn't mean you should do nothing as a parent and watch your children be ruined. It's not even called interfering unless you are physically there.

If you don't agree with it. Then don't allow it and advise other parent of your disapproval.

GtaV , Family Guy are both inappropriate for children under 18. Agreed. Five nights at Freddy I would say is inappropriate for children under 13. It is rated TEEN after all.

OP makes good point about porno. It is age inappropriate content just as the other items. We have media ratings for a reason. Don't mind Sad and Tired rolling her eyes. She's just sad and , well, a bit Tired.

I would not call CAS. Just an email sharing your concerns and communicating. Other parent communicated her concern of me putting videos of child and I on YouTube and I respected her concern by advise of lawyer and cooperated with her. CAS would have told her to piss off. My lawyer wanted to rebut their allegations that we don't cooperate.Your concerns are valid and hopefully she will cooperate and not expose child to clearly age innapropriate content.
