Default His lawyer quit

I went to "case management" for the fifth time today. Ex did not show up for the second time. His lawyer received approval from the new judge (the third judge in 19 months) to quit being his lawyer (his second lawyer).

The divorce (with cause) was granted 7 months ago by the first judge; however, we are making no progress on the legal separation. I can't even get my name off his car or get his taken off mine - and he's driving under the influence. The court says "wait."

In 19 months, I've received most of my clothing, books and some of my ID. He has the home, furniture, etc. He's paid 2 months of spousal support and it finally went to Support Enforcement. There are 5 items he was to supply the court (CPP, life insurance, income tax papers, etc.) that he has not given.

My lawyer says we'll just have to wait and see what the judge will do. What options does the judge have to get him to participate in the divorce? Can she make my ex be a moral person to do his legal duty? If he doesn't supply things, will that tie up the divorce for years or does the judge have other options?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it has been my experience that, if they are determined not to do something, they will continue to try and get away with it. It took me 3 court orders and 5 years to get my ex to finally sign off on the ownership of the house that he "agreed" to do in the first order.
The good news is that he is not painting a good picture for the courts and I am sure they will not be gentle with him when he finally does show up. Keep good records/notes and track of your costs and ask the judge to be awarded costs because of his nonsense.

Good luck!

If orders have been made and he hasn't produced. Make a Motion for contempt for the orders not obeyed. Ask the Judge to set a date to obey the orders. If he still doesn't obey, make another Motion for contempt. Usually, 2 or 3 motions for contempt can put him in jail.
