  • Divorcing an immigrant

I was wondering what the Canadian laws were in respect to divorcing an immigrant from Eastern Europe. We own a joint home in Canada; under both names. We also own a condo in Eastern Europe, which was origanlly purchased under both names. She has another Condo just under her name. She wants to get half the assets in Canada but does not want to split half the assets in Europe. She does not have any type of Status in Canada as we were married in Europe and have never applied for any type of landed immigrant status. Does she still have the same legal rights to half the assets in Canada even though she has no status here except for a visitor Visa?

Any information would be much appreciated, Thanks.
