  • Ending of Spousal Support

I have been divorced for 10 months and have been re-married for 2 1/2 months. I have had a separation agreement with my ex-wife for over 7 years now. We had agreed to have a low spousal support amount and I would like to terminate it now. We have three children which I will continue to support accordingly.
Does the separation agreement have to be changed or can we just agree to end the support?

Welcome to the forums mrbill! If your ex and you agree to end spousal support, you should get this agreement turned into a proper legal agreement. Otherwise, some years down the line your wife may change her mind and decide to enforce the agreement that's currently in place.

There's a good review article about this subject at:

I think the article is a bit old, but it hasn't gotten much easier to end spousal support since then.
