Since i cannot get an answer from the school board- who cite 'privacy' even though i have not asked about a specific student, just general principles or guidelines- I will ask here.
Both children attend the same elementary school. The school attendance record shows 43 absents for the oldest child during the last school year, excluding PD Days, school cancellations, holidays etc. The attendance record indicates tens of doctor visits and tens of reported illnesses having been reported by the parent as the cause of the absences. The other child missed 25 of the very same days over the same period; so both children were out of school on most of those days. Of note; the children live literally 2 minutes from the school.
The children's school report cards show eighteen absences for the older child and none for the younger child for the school year.
Does anyone know how the school counts or discounts absences?
