So to lighten the mood a bit... let's change gears -

It seems Divorce Parties are on the rise. I'm hearing/reading of them more and more often. The reasons for throwing such a party are as varied as the people having them.

Divorce parties, a growing trend in marriage break-ups

Some recently divorced people are throwing a "thank gawd it's done" party after having spent considerable time (months, years) going through the courts. This is a way for them to just shed all the negative and celebrate that they can finally move forward.

When the divorce is more amicable, some are throwing joint divorce parties as a means to 'comfort' their mutual friends. It is a way to let their mutual friends know that they don't have to pick sides - the friend can remain a friend to both of the exes.

And then there are some who will throw a divorce party simply because they will throw a party for any reason... LOL!!

I'm an avid follower of a blog Cake Wrecks, and they have had a couple feature posts discussing divorce cakes and how hilarious some of these creations are (just on face value)....

So what do you think - would you throw a party once the final divorce agreement is signed?

I think I would... heck, I'm already 'planning' it (tongue in cheek)... I think my party would be a combination of the above reasons.... a little bit to celebrate that I'm single again, a little bit to have all the mutual friends know that I still will remain friends with them (the guys & spouses from his work and ex & I used to get together once a month for a 'friendly' poker game...), and finally just because having a party and getting to spend some happy time with friends is always a nice thing!! And yes, I'm even considering ordering a funny divorce cake from a friend who is a talented baker

I don't think it's just a 'chick thing' to do.... some comments I've come across:

“After my divorce, I was bad-tempered and slightly crazy for months. My divorce party was cathartic. I finally let go of all the anger, sadness and regret. It marked the end of a difficult chaotic time.”
        Rick

“My divorce was long and painful. After two years of lawyer hell, I got the divorce decree, placed it in the center of my mantelpiece, and threw a blowout party for all the friends who’d stood by me.”
        Henry

BTW - I had a newly separated party back in October...LOL, invited all my girlfriends from work and those that live close by, and we went to the local watering hole and just danced the night away, it was awesome to show all my girlfriends my new place

Maybe I should consider a divorce party once my divorce comes through

Ok. I'm in. Where's the Party?? I haven't been able to have my very own just yet.

**To Add to Playlist: Tom Petty - Don't come Around here no more.

And a personal favorite oldy that for me is Chalk-full of sarcasm but always makes me laugh: "baby come back" (you can blame it all on me, I was wrong and I just can't live without you).

So funny for me b/c looney tunes ex has new wife convinced that I still "love him" - yes.. Nothing says I still love you like seeking a restraining order, taking the person to court, not ever looking at, much less speaking to the Ex.

Yes Siree - sounds like "LOVE" to me. And dammit, would you believe none of the above has won him back?? I'm stymied. Not sure where I went wrong. Lol, that and the fact he's a bloated looking FB (and used to be in shape) ummm, no Thanks. More importantly - he's a psycho. Ok, I guess I vented a little there - but seriously, where's the party happening, pot luck okay?

I've never thought of having a formal party to mark the date. But I'd definitely let our boys play their drums, and electric guitar as dad wouldn't let them due to the noise !

                    Divorce Party

My divorce should be final by the end of April/beginning of May. I would love to have a party but I can't afford one...his "man-amony" payments are taking care of that. When I turn 65 then I will have a big party...that's if I live that long.

I do think it's a great idea...so start the party and I'll bring the beans and we'll all have a gas I mean blast.

I hosted a divorce party. Was a lot of fun.

Got a nasty E-mail from my ex wondering how I could celebrate such a low point in our lives.

LOL!! As if what you do ((at that point)) is really any of your ex's concern!! LOL!!

My Ex has said to me on a couple occasions "so you're already planning your party, eh?" To which I reply - "Yep"... but then again, he also knew that I am the type that will plan a get together with my girlfriends for nothing more than "woohoo it's Friday" LOL!!

Please don't take this the wrong way - I really am not some wild party girl!! LOL!! ((I went back and re-read that... LMAO!!)) But when I do have the rare occasion to just let everything else go, I make sure I live in the moment and just enjoy the happiness and friends I am sharing this with.....

All ladies need a "Girls Nite Out" just as all guys need a "Guys Nite Out"....
