Asking for a friend:
Friends ex wants to take 5 year old child on a trip to South East Asia in February to visit family. The child has received 1 dose of the Covid vaccine and the second would be mid to end February. Considering the Government of Canada has issued a Level 3 travel advisory stating avoid all non-essential travel can consent be withheld for this trip at this time? |

Probably wouldnt be allowed as there is a global pandemic and travel isnt allowed. Unless its an emergency its a big question of if a judge would say ok.

Concern over a global pandemic is not unreasonable, I think withholding consent here would be fine. |

Travelling out of the country during a pandemic is risky business.
Getting sick, getting stranded due to a quarantine. On top of that that their vaccine doesn't take proper effect until a couple of weeks after the second dose and that would be mid-march. Don't give a bunch of reasons that they can use against you. |

also- the child can't go back to school for 14 days if out of the country if not double vaccinated which includes 2 weeks post 2nd dose.... so doesn't make sense with the timeline / missing school.
