My 3 YO daughter is having a difficult time with our separation. I have tried getting her to open up about how she feels but she says little and then clams up. Does anyone know of any stories online or books I could read to her that would help her understand and talk about feelings? I've put us on a waiting list for counselling, but I want to start helping her as much as I can now.

I thought there was something on Sesame street on this, but google found this instead - but there is some possibly useful info on the test audience observations.

It was just too difficult a concept for a 3-year-old"
"To some extent, parental separation or divorce have been covered in a "Sesame Street News Flash" segment about a bird whose parents live in different trees. The song, named "They Live in Different Places, But They Both Love Me""
