One year later

Ok so it's been a full year since my fiances ex wife filed for divorce and nothing has happened. My fiancé enquired about the process and delay and was told that his ex has the ball in her hands since she started the proceedings. And there is nothing he can do. I would like to be able to move forward on this and my own marriage, but I'm unclear as to what steps are now required ? His ex filed and he did not submit any response and there has been nothing in a year now. When he called the courthouse they said they were waiting on stuff from his exwife.


What's the best way to expedite this process at this time ?
