Question Alimony in Alberta

Situation - Married 18 years, together 20. She has never worked and I make about 129,000 before taxes a year for the last 5. Been separated 2 years. She got a degree about 10 years ago but never would get a job. Has had two years now to get a job but refuses. She has always made 0$. Our kids are almost adults. She could have been working for the last 6 years at least.

My question is how screwed am I to having to pay her a ridiculous amount for many years?

I know all the numbers the lawyers want me to pay but how can it be that she just gets to absolutely refuse to work and I have to continue to support her.
