  • motion filed when to file affidavit and materials

    I was served a motion.
It was adjourned to another date.
When do I have to have my responding Affidavit and supporting materials submitted by?

Reading the Family Law Rules isn't always the easiest. I find a much more accessible and helpful tool is the CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario) flow chart(s) found here:

Only issue with CLEO is that it actually does not list timelines for how long you have to respond/file/confirm by (at least from what I can see)

I am also very wary now of any site that is not the direct link to Family Law Rules. For my first CC I referenced the timelines on the attorney general government website, which says you must file your confirmation two days before your conference..... its actually THREE days before. That caused me quite a headache.

Steps to justice and CLEO are good if you already have a lawyer and want to know “generally” how things work. If you are self repping, you will want to make yourself very familiar with my previous mentioned link.
