COVID / remote learning has changed things a bit, perhaps temporarily but maybe not.

Are there any circumstances where it would be permissible for one parent to home school their child with a tutor and the other parent send them to school?

    thank-you

It is unlikely that the schools would allow it. Either you are registered or you are not. If you are registered, and your child does not attend school half the time, the school will start escalating interventions.

If you went to a judge, I would imagine that the ruling would probably support the parent that wanted to send their child to school.

With online schooling being offered across the province for September - parents can keep the child home, but they are still attending virtually regardless of physical location. The student can access the classroom from anywhere as long as they have technology and an internet connection.

Just food for thought. If mom registers for online learning, if they are attending in her area, when they are with you, it will be expected the online learning will continue - as all they need is a computer and internet.

Will need to progress that legally for a change - schools will go by who has decision making authority, where the child is registered, and what the latest legal documents order. Especially if they are aware the custody is in the courts.
