Default Settlement Meeting

Does anybody know what happens in a settlement meeting? I think I know what its about but what happens if I don't agree with everything. Sorry to sound stupid.

Just keep trying to find a common ground that works for everyone to try & settle the matter if possible; I started the discussions with my ex's lawyer (I was self rep) as soon as we arrived at court - we had the clerk push the case to the end of the line so we could spend the time trying to settle the matter.

The visitation portion took the longest because my ex refused to take anything more than 3 visits a month with the kids. He refused summer access, holidays etc. (he's only exercised access 2 times in the last 11 months)

We stayed at it from 9am until about 2pm, signed, initialled, finalized it all & then went in front of the Judge around 2:30pm with the final order.

You all sit down and try to settle the problems before having to go before a judge. You can agree on specific things - and disagree on others. You will still be able to proceed to court on the issues that have not been settled.

Go to this meeting with a list of things that are important to you. Be prepared to discuss the issues your ex has concerns about. Try very hard to find a common ground and make some progress.
