Hi folks new user with a question,my ex was told by someone that we cannot speak or see each other for the next year.How can I get her to understand that unless there is a restraining order in place we can communicate all we want.We have no kids.

You just have to be separated - not living as husband and wife - for one year before you file for divorce.

Some people even do this while still living in the same house! As long as you agree that you were not husband and wife, that is all that is required.

You can talk and be best friends for all anyone cares. It is very odd that someone could misconstrude this rule as meaning no contact, and very odd that she believes it.

maybe she just doesn't want to talk or see you and this is her way of letting you down gently.
