  • Cost for discoveries??

Anyone know what the cost of conducting discoveries is?? I am looking at scheduling the oral discoveries and want to have an idea what the cost is before moving forward....I'll be calling the courthouse tomorrow morning.

Also, if anyone has had experience with discoveries, I'd appreciate some insight

    Thanx

Are you doing this on your own or with a lawyer? That is the big question. Lawyers as a rule will need about 3 hours prep for every 1 hour of discovery. If on the other hand you are doing this yourself then the cost will be minimal. Your main cost will be the completed transcript which you will be charged for the first copy which is the most expensive. There is a lot of technique and strategy envolved here and lawyers pocess this whereas a lay person will not. As a rule with a lawyer and one running $250 to $300 per hour you can easily go through $6 to $7k. All depends on what is to gain here to substantiate the cost. It can be an expensive exercise.

I've found the info, and it's not terribly expensive I pay for my time and they pay for them time. Thanks for the response.
