Did you put in an agreement about postsecondary child support in your agreement when your children were still in elementary school, or in high school, or a general clause that it would be revisited when the time came?

<14 -- A simple clause that the parents shall agree on post-secondary and if they can't the matter shall be resolved through ARBITRATION.
>14 -- You may be able to get more detailed.
Every agreement should have arbitration clauses on them. Where the parents shall work jointly and failure to reach agreement shall move the matter to ARBITRATION where both parents pay half the cost and can seek their costs after the arbitrator makes an order on the matter.
Good Luck!

In theory thats great but as my partners lawyer said, no matter what is in your agreement about disagreements, one person can still file in court.
The best advice to give is to stay present in your kids lives and work together on education decisions. Be a part of their work towards a post secondary degree and encourage them to be an equal part of the funding. Teach them fiscal responsibility and smart career decisions.
Otherwise you will have an ex making all the decisions, a kid who doesnt know how to save and an education in underwater basket weaving leading to thousands in debt.
