On the Globe and Mail website, they have an article by Rob Carrick, who's a tax expert, o n the new budget.
One of the new tax measures announced in the budget was :
"The budget would allow single parents to have their benefits, which total $100 per month for kids under 6, taxed in the hands of dependent children. The net effect would be to eliminate tax on the benefit in most cases, which in turn would save a single parent with one child up to $168 in 2010."
The tax saving I have no issues on it. However, one implication is that for shared custody, or to calculate the prorated share of expenses, this amount will no longer be included in line 150. So, in my case, my ex's income just went down $1,200 per year.
And, because of this, my CS payment will increase 12$ per month.
