  • Post-secondary costs & trust fund

Have read the info on division of post-secondary education. How is this affected when the student has a trust fund left specifically for his college costs? Are the parents still responsible for 1/3?

The student uses that for their portion of costs.

Does the trust fund cover ALL expenses?

Yes, although I still pay child support the trust fund is paying $600/month to mom for room & board. Trust fund has also paid for automobile to get to school.

Yes the trust fund has enough to cover all expenses related to getting post secondary education. It has already paid for car and even though I still pay CS it is also paying his mom $600 month for room and board.

That would be a tough call then. Technically its his money and it doesnt necessarily have to be used for school even if it was created with that in mind. You could still be ordered to pay a share of the school costs. He shouldnt be paying his mother rent if shes getting child support.

You may have to have a judge decide this one.
