  • Ontario to offer grants to cover college tuition for low-income students

A chance for all assistance-collecting, child-support collecting, unequal income parents to bring those family incomes back towards equal.

Should help with kids going to post secondary too.

It will be interesting to see who qualifies and what they get. And how kids claim it. For instance, my partner makes significantly less than his ex but kids live with her. If they were to claim his income they would qualify for more grants but they dont want to live with him. Which means kid has a share of cost and ex has a high share of cost.

Will also be interesting seeing the break downs of costs. Support payors will still be on the hook for cs, living expenses and other costs. Tuition is a big cost though so it would save some money.

      Yeah, who knows.

I imagine it won't differ much from what the existing grants/OSAP/etc do, when it determines parent incomes. They already take into consideration divorced/split familiy situations now, but a lot of it is based on legal custody.
