  • Common law property entitlement

I have been living with a man for the last 5 months. I recently bought a condo and we will be moving in the end of Oct.
My partner was unable to secure a mortgage, so I secured the mortgage on my income alone.
I paid the deposit, the down payment, and will be making at least 80% of the mortgage payment.
My question is, what rights does he have to the property should this relationship end? Can he demand 50%, even though financially he has contributed zero to the purchase of this property, and will only be making mimimal monthly payments to help with the mortgage payment?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

if it is in your name alone and you are not married then he has no rights to 50% of the property. To protect yourself further, write out an agreement stating that his money is for rent
