Default Question on Common Law Divorce

I need some help.

This Q&A:

I would like to know if a formal statement like a letter is needed. Also, I would like to know where it states in law that a common law relationship is over "when one of you says it's over." I am no longer living with my common law partner with whom I lived for more than 10 years.

The relationship was over when you left the common residence. This would be considered the date of separation.
