Time Limits

Can anyone tell me what the time limit is for a SS Spouse to make a claim for support?
My spouse 'disappeared' about a year ago, we had no legal agreements of any kind. I've been on edge ever since she left, she's not willing to negotiate anything, but believes she has a claim to 'half of everything'. I own my home, and did so long before we met. I've paid all bills, there has been no financial contribution to me, other then the occasional package of toilet paper she's purchased.

"FL_needs_to_change" has posted numerous times about the presumption that one year is around the time after which the SS claim starts to get weaker.
