  • Notarized travel consent letter

Asking a question on behalf of a friend...

"I have sole custody and my children (14 & 11) are travelling on their own overseas to visit their father this summer for 2 months. Do they require notarized travel consent letter from the sole custodian? "

    Thanks

Check the department of foreign affairs site. If theyre going to see the other parent it may not be required. Your friend should also check with the airline for their rules on unaccompanied minors travelling with consent.

If you do send the kids with a notarized letter from only one parent, you may also want to attach a copy of the divorce order specifying sole custody to that parent. (You need to do this for passport applications too).
