Default Cheapest course of action for a non-contested divorce

Hello,
Does it bothers lawyers that there are online services for divorce?

Whereas it's not clear to me with respect to the pro's and cons regarding these type of services, if the divorce is by mutual consent and there are no awkward issues is this not an option to consider?

Having said that I don't suppose there's a ball park figure for a non-contested divorce Lawyers fee, or is that a silly question?

Cheers, Gordy

If the divorce is uncontested, and there are no property/support issues, you could proceed without a lawyer.

I went through the process without a lawyer, and just received my divorce order in the mail a few weeks ago.

It costs about 450$ in court fees. There are about 6 forms in total that you must fill out.

Default Me to...

I also did mine on my own for the same costs under $500 it's pretty easy. An uncontested divorce thru a lawyer would run you about $1200. It's a 3 step process really to file for divorce and all the forms are available online. No need to go thru a lawyer.

The application that you file will be different depending on your circumstances.

You can find the forms here:
http://www.ontariocourtforms.on.ca/e...mily/index.jsp

The ones I had to fill out for my circumstance were:
8A, 6B, 36, 25A.
I served my ex via regular mail, so I also required her to complete Form #6.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I never even new this option was possible before I came on this forum. How did you determin what forms were needed in your situation? Mine should be straight forward, my ex and I get along (for now) I have no problem asking him for a divorce and I know he won't contest it either. But I want to make sure I have all the forms that I do need.

Thanks alot for your response on this greatly appreciated!!!

you should read the proceedings guide.

It breaks down the process step by step.

Default finally!!!

this is very helpful. thanks. Finally! after 7 years! my X and i have agreed to settle! our only asset is "the matrimonial home", in which i have been living and we have agreed on terms for me to buy him out. do we proceed with the buy out as a real estate deal or is it included in the divorce settlement and done at the same time as divorce?
