  • Tax deductions

I receive child support and from this I pay for childs school bus pass. STBX is asking for my receipts for this bus pass so he can make the claim for income tax deductions.

I think he's out to lunch. The information on CRA's website states that in order to make the claim, you must have paid for the transit pass. How does he meet that qualification?

Is he paying the offset amount? Do you have 50/50? You may each be able to claim 50% of the transit passes - maybe - never seen it done, but you could give it a go.

If he pays full cs and you are cp - then he does not have anything to do with the transit passes. You decide how the money is spent - and you are able to make the claim for the credit.
