So to lighten the mood a bit... let's change gears -
It seems Divorce Parties are on the rise. I'm hearing/reading of them more and more often. The reasons for throwing such a party are as varied as the people having them.
Divorce parties, a growing trend in marriage break-ups
Some recently divorced people are throwing a "thank gawd it's done" party after having spent considerable time (months, years) going through the courts. This is a way for them to just shed all the negative and celebrate that they can finally move forward.
When the divorce is more amicable, some are throwing joint divorce parties as a means to 'comfort' their mutual friends. It is a way to let their mutual friends know that they don't have to pick sides - the friend can remain a friend to both of the exes.
And then there are some who will throw a divorce party simply because they will throw a party for any reason... LOL!!
I'm an avid follower of a blog Cake Wrecks, and they have had a couple feature posts discussing divorce cakes and how hilarious some of these creations are (just on face value)....
So what do you think - would you throw a party once the final divorce agreement is signed?
I think I would... heck, I'm already 'planning' it (tongue in cheek)... I think my party would be a combination of the above reasons.... a little bit to celebrate that I'm single again, a little bit to have all the mutual friends know that I still will remain friends with them (the guys & spouses from his work and ex & I used to get together once a month for a 'friendly' poker game...), and finally just because having a party and getting to spend some happy time with friends is always a nice thing!! And yes, I'm even considering ordering a funny divorce cake from a friend who is a talented baker
