is it in child's best interest

When an 11 yr old insists that her parent take her to the courthouse to get herself a lawyer, would that be an indication to the court system that the child is not happy where she is living and wishes to have her voice heard.

It certainly sounds like the 11 year old has maybe overheard things that she perhaps shouldn't have been hearing. Could have got the idea from somewhere than the other parent, though. I would ask the child, "Why?"
Eleven is still too young for a child to be asking that of any parent, unless the child is living in some really bad situation. And being "annoyed" with one parent who tells said child to clean up after her/himself and perform "unreasonable" chores like oh, homework is not reason to change custody etc.

I think it is a bigger sign that the child is need of some counselling.

Unless there is neglect or abuse (or something else of substance), the child should have no reason to want to go to court. The child probably also has little understand of what they are actually asking.

I think getting counselling involving the child and both parents would be in the best interests of the child vs assign a Children's Lawyer and going to court.

yeah do it the normal way...allege that the other parent takes drugs, is a criminal, sexual pervert, violent, controlling through the marriage, and doesn't pay enough child support, posts incriminating things on Facebook, stalks you, is mentally deranged but whatever you do...don't sit down and talk heart to heart as adults about what your child needs or get a mediator.

This would have been even funnier (and true) if you would have ended it with...

Make sure you use the words "vacillate", "voluminous", and other words that the general public uses so the judge thinks you had a lawyer write it.

Good Luck!

the child has motlive always wanted to live with mother but her father who is ex-military, diagnosed as mentally ill & family has money r using her as control. Court has been adjourned repeatedly for 2 yrs.

There has been neglect from the father but has been covered up y his family. When child tries to ask for help privileges are taken away. no longer allowed to use phone or computer etc

You could ask the Office of the Children's Lawyer to become involved. If they accept the case, they will assign a lawyer to represent the child
