After being in a relationship for 3 years and working for the military, i signed a contract stating i was common law with my boyfriend in order for us to move into military housing. After living together for a year and a half, the relationship turned sour and ended. After the first 6 months i was shipped off to Afghanistan, during which everything was left to my boyfriend. He managed to spend all of the money that had been made during my time away on bars and gambling. He also seemed to be getting closer to other women. We then decided to take a break and reassess our relationship. A few weeks later, we decided to give it another try.
Because we had not signed a contract stating that this break-up was official, in front of the law, it appears as tho we were commong for the year and a half that has gone by.
During the time we were living together, my boyfriend did not have a steady income, therefore everything was put in my name and payed for by me. Today, my ex-boyfriend is trying to take 50% of my income as well as 50% of what i have payed for during our time together. He is also planning on living in our house for another month although we have not been common law for over a month.
I would like to know what exactly is he entitled to and how I can settle this as quickly as possible.
