    Hello all,
Hoping you can assist in giving me some insight. Trying to get my head around this situation.

    Kids living arrangements 50/50

Pay spousal and child support for 3 children.
Special or extraordinary split me 66%, ex-spouse 34%

Total cost of Orthodontics for child $4730

I have benefits that cover 50% up to max. $3000

How does the actual break done work on who owes how much?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

$2365 would be covered by your benefits, $2365 would be left to split. You would pay $1560.90, ex would pay $804.10... technically the cost of your benefits for the kids should be a shared expense but rarely does that happen.

Others may have different opinions but any benefits come off the top and remaining balances are split. Going through this now with my step son

      Does your ex have benefits?

Who claims the cost on their taxes?

If your ex has no benefits, the NET cost (after taxes amount) is split between the two of you according to the proportionate share.

If she claims the kids on taxes, you pay your share of the net cost.
